Zara, the flagship brand of the Inditex group, is continuing to elevate its product offerings by preparing to launch a new collection in collaboration with Italian designer Stefano Pilati. Set for release in October, the capsule collection will include nearly 100 designs.
As reported by WWD this Tuesday, the collection will feature 50 menswear designs, 30 womenswear pieces, and a range of accessories. The launch will be accompanied by a campaign shot by renowned photographer Steven Meisel, who also collaborated with the Spanish brand a year ago.
The fall of 2023 also saw news of a collaboration between Stefano Pilati and Fendi, featuring both menswear and womenswear. Pilati, an Italian native, has held positions at some of the fashion industry’s most prestigious houses. After his time at Cerruti, Giorgio Armani, and Prada, he became the artistic director at Yves Saint Laurent from 2004 to 2012. He later headed the creative direction at Ermenegildo Zegna, and in 2018, launched his own “genderless” brand, Random Identities.
With this partnership, Zara takes another step towards repositioning its offerings towards a more premium segment. This collaboration follows a 2022 partnership with Narciso Rodríguez and comes in addition to collaborations with well-known creatives, including recent joint collections with Clarks and Studio Nicholson, as well as with New York-based children’s brand Sea.
Beyond Zara, other Inditex group brands consistently engage in collaborations as a hallmark of their identity. This summer, Bershka introduced a capsule collection with El Niño, a brand steeped in early 2000s flair, while in the spring, Stradivarius partnered with the emerging brand Hand Over.
Financially, the Inditex group reported a 10.4% increase in revenue for fiscal year 2023, reaching €35.947 billion. In the current fiscal year, the Spanish company saw a 7.1% increase in sales during the first quarter, totaling €8.150 billion.
