LSU receiver Kyren Lacy – tipped to be a first-round pick in the NFL Draft – is wanted by police who say he was involved in a fatal car crash.
Cops have issued an arrest warrant for the 24-year-old. They allege his speeding on a highway near Lafourche Parish at around 10am on December 17 caused an accident that killed Herman Hall, a 78-year-old former marine, and injured two others.
A statement from Louisiana Police said: ‘Following the crash, Lacy drove around the crash scene and fled south on LA Hwy 20 without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the crash.
‘The investigation revealed that the crash occurred as a 2023 Dodge Charger was traveling south on LA Hwy 20.
‘The driver of the Dodge Charger, later identified as 24-year-old Kyren Lacy of Thibodaux, recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated No-Passing Zone.
‘As Lacy was illegally passing the other vehicles, the driver of a northbound lane pickup truck abruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision with the approaching Dodge.

The 24-year-old had been anticipated by many to be a first round pick in the NFL Draft
‘Traveling behind the pickup truck was a Kia Cadenza whose driver swerved left to avoid the oncoming Dodge Charger.
‘As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid impact with the Dodge, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound Kia Sorrento.’
The report adds Lacy and his representatives have been in contact with law enforcement over turning himself in and that he is also wanted for for felony hit and run and reckless operation of a vehicle as well as negligent homicide.
He declared for the NFL Draft on Dec. 19, two days after the incident, captioning his post: ‘The time is now!!’
Lacy wrote: ‘I want to express my appreciation to all my coaches, support staff and trainers for helping me develop as a football player but most importantly as a person.
‘Although we didn’t accomplish our goal of winning a national championship, I promise to take all of those life lessons with me in the next chapter of my life.’
He had his career-best year at LSU in 2024, taking 58 catches for 866 yards and a team high of nine touchdowns in 12 games.
Over a three-year stretch with the Tigers, the 6-foot-2 Lacy had 112 catches, 1,692 yards and 16 TDs.
Fans had speculated that Lacy might be drafted by the Washington Commanders, paving the way for a reunion with his former LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels.
But it now appears that the trajectory of his career is about to take a very different turn.
