A quaint village is right next to a popular area where footballers are known for buying properties – but homes there come at a fraction of the price.
Bucklow Hill has an average house price of £271,500 but its neighbour Prestbury, comes with a much steeper price tag of £735,000.
Located in rural Cheshire, both areas are seen as desirable – but what makes them so good?
A train station connects the area to London in less than two hours, there is beautiful scenery located close by and there are other major cities within reach such as Manchester.
Cheshire’s ‘golden triangle’ consists of Wilmslow, Alderley Edge and Prestbury. Prestbury is known for being one of the most in demand villages of the area.
Sofia Da Silva of Savills has noticed the increased interest in the Cheshire area, she said: “Demand is up for properties worth more than £4 million but the majority of interest is for properties between £1 million and £2 million from buyers relocating out of London.”
But Bucklow Hill boasts many of the same features as the “golden triangle” but for a much more affordable price tag – and it’s just 15 miles away.
Footballers love the area and many own properties in the wider area – incuding Liverpool midfielder Alexis MacAllister who lives in a £3.9 million mansion in Wilmslow, as did former Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson until earlier this year.
Michael Vaughan, former England cricket captain, pundit and local, has invested in the Wilmslow Padel Club and plays there three times a week.
The area is home to a range of leisure facilities including sports sites such as golf courses and luxury gyms as well as an array of bars and restuarants loves by celebs.
In recent years, most people buying houses in the area have come from outside of Cheshire.
Many who buy in the area enjoy the easy commute to Manchester which is convenient for those wanting to work in the city but live somewhere that is a bit more rural.
Not far from Cheshire is the Peak District – this makes it perfect for people wanting to see the countryside on the weekends.
It’s no surprise this part of England is so popular with a strong community feel, beautiful surrounding countryside and perfect location for commuters.
