Andrew heads to Market Rasen and Yarmouth for his three recommended bets/trades on Tuesday, October 15th…
Sue Smith’s break returners usually need the run at this time of year and, since 2013, had we backed the yard’s chasers/hurdlers from June to November who had been off the track for more than 90 days we’d have found only nine winners from 289 bets (3.1% strike-rate) for a loss of £178.50 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 28.53, A/E = 0.32). At the time of writing RIALANNAH was trading as the 5-2 second favourite for this 2m maiden hurdle but has been off the track for 175 days since April’s runner-up effort at Southwell over an extended 2m4f and is likely to need the run. Sell in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market. JACKS WISH, a hurdle debutant representing the in-form Nigel Twiston-Davies yard, could be the best each-way angle for fixed odds punters.
Recommendation: Oppose RIALANNAH in Market Rasen 2.05
TARAS HALL, like Rialannah in the 2.05, is another Sue Smith break returner who is likely to need the run. The six-year-old made a winning racecourse debut in a Huntingdon bumper back in January 2023 but that was for Amy Murphy and he’s lost all seven starts for his current handler. The son of Yeats fell early on his reappearance when a 4-1 shot at Wetherby and could only finish a 39-length seventh of eight, again starting at 4-1, here at Market Rasen next time on what was effectively his first run of the campaign. Sell in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market.
Recommendation: Oppose TARAS HALL in Market Rasen 2.35
AFLOAT won twice at Yarmouth last summer and Rae Guest’s four-year-old took her course record to 111 (3-3) when justifying strong support in a handicap over the extended 1m3f trip when returned to the seaside venue last week. She had three lengths to spare over the runner-up at the line and looks a solid bet to maintain her 100% course record this afternoon despite the presence of Ed Walker’s lightly-raced three-year-old UMBRIA. Buy in the Spreadex 50-25-10 market or take a fixed odds price.
Recommendation: Back AFLOAT in Yarmouth 4.15
