We have a new name to monitor for Kentucky Basketball.
According to KSR’s Jacob Polacheck, Oklahoma Sooners guard Otega Oweh has been contacted by new head coach Mark Pope.
Originally a class of 2022 recruit out of New Jersey, Oweh signed with the Sooners while holding offers from Miami, Illinois, Penn State, Georgia, Minnesota, Ole Miss, St. John’s, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, and Washington, among others. He was ranked 70th overall and fifth among shooting guards in his class, according to 247 Sports Composite.
This past season, the 6-foot-5, 215-pound Oweh averaged 11.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.0 assists while shooting 49.3% from the floor and 37.7% from 3-point range in 24.8 minutes per contest. He had eight games of 16+ points.
In a December neutral court loss to North Carolina, Oweh poured in a career-high 23 points (6/10 shooting and 10/11 on free throws) to go with five boards, two steals, and an assist.
Oweh will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next school.
