On Monday evening, we got a clearer picture of where things stand for Kentucky Wildcats guard Kerr Kriisa.
During his radio show, head coach Mark Pope provided an injury update on the spark-plug point guard, who has been out since December 7th, when he broke his foot in the Gonzaga Bulldogs game.
It doesn’t sound like we won’t be seeing Kriisa for at least several more weeks.
“Kerr is getting to that point where his recovery has been completely predictable and scripted,” said Pope. “We’re going to know more in the next few weeks about whether this is going to kind of turn the corner and be really quick on the quicker side, or if this is going to be a more complicated recovery.
“We’re kind of moving into that window where we’re going to get some more information on his recovery.”
It doesn’t sound like Kerr may return for the regular season, being that there are only 13 games left in regular-season play and only seven weeks from the SEC tournament.
Could Kerr return for postseason play? We don’t know, but he has been making strides, as he is now out of the boot and walking around without it.
Also, is there a chance Kriisa gets a medical redshirt and plays one more season at Kentucky? If he doesn’t return this season, you have to think he’d have a great case for getting one.
One thing is for certain: Kentucky misses their energy guy on the court. Let’s hope Travis Perry and/or Collin Chandler can step up and fill the void.
