Manchester City: Guardiola and four Premier League titles in a row

Must read

Manchester City are hoping to write history this season, as they continued their bid to become the first team to win four consecutive titles in the top division of English football with a 2-0 win against Everton.

Former Spurs defender Stephen Kelly has been discussing how big of an achievement it would be on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast: “It’s the fact that they equalled the treble last year and people are still talking about who got the better treble, who did it better, and the money side of things that Manchester City have.

“If they go four in a row, then there is no question. There can be no questions. It puts every debate to bed.

“I haven’t seen a better team than this. I haven’t witnessed a better manager. I played against Sir Alex Ferguson’s teams, and I understand his teams and playing against them, but it’s the way Pep [Guardiola] has changed their style of football.

“Every single team now is trying to play inverted full-backs because Pep brought that to football. So there’s something there that he has changed – the style, how people think about the game, how people perceive it, how players are thought of as being able to play multiple positions.

“They are just fascinating.”
