The Mainetti UK Managing Director made an announcement to all staff at the Wrexham site on Friday, April 19, to notify them that the continual increase in operating costs mean it is no longer viable to operate.
According to it’s website, Mainetti has been a trusted partner to the world’s most respected and well-known retail and apparel brands for over 60 years.
Yet, the business has continued to see significant decreases in volume returning to the Wrexham reuse facility based on Bedwel Road, Industrial Estate Park.
The customer base has steadily moved further south in the UK with very few of its customers having Distribution locations above the M1/M6 Junction.
A Mainetti UK spokesperson added: “In the last 12 months there have been significant increases in business transport costs. Hauling goods from a southern location back to Wrexham is no longer an option.
“The announcement means that we are scaling back their operations at Wrexham and moving to a smaller site near Rugby.

A 30-day redundancy consultation period will therefore commence towards the end of April with approximately 50 employees currently registered at the site.
A spokesperson said further information cannot be shared at this time, but all queries can be answered following the consultation period.
