LONDON, U.K. — Two squads from the biggest city in England go at it on Sunday, with one team trying to stay in the English Premier League title hunt, as Arsenal visits West Ham United.
Arsenal comes into this weekend still high after a huge win. Against league-leading Liverpool, the Gunners came up with a big performance on home soil, winning 3-1. It came just a month after Arsenal was eliminated by the Reds in the FA Cup, and since that loss, the Gunners have been playing excellent football. The question is, with the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League coming up, how will Mike Arteta platoon his team to stay in the for an EPL championship? It is definitely going to be a tough ask, but they have to be consistent in both fields of play if they want a chance at winning both.
Arsenal is third in the table, two points back of Liverpool.
West Ham is trying to simply get into one of the European competition spots. After a disappointing 3-0 loss to Manchester United last Sunday, the Hammers find themselves sitting seventh in the league standings, eight points back of Tottenham Hotspur for fifth. It ended a six-match unbeaten streak in Premier League play, which included a win over Arsenal right after Christmas. However, West Ham has only picked up single points against lowly clubs like Sheffield United and Bournemouth.
Arsenal is 72-41-37 against West Ham dating back to their first meeting in 1906.
