Gymshark is in full-on store opening mode at present and said on Tuesday that it will open three new permanent stores and a retail outlet pop-up in the next 12 months, mainly in the UK but also with a significant mainland European move.
New permanent locations will include Trafford Centre, Westfield White City and the first mainland European store on The Kalverstraat in Amsterdam. The news follows its recent unveiling of its first permanent store outside the UK in Dubai Mall.
The permanent stores will create over 200 new employment opportunities.
But the firm’s first move in this current opening spree will be the temporary pop-up. It will open at tourist magnet Bicester Village, which is Europe’s leading designer outlet and we’re told “presents the perfect opportunity for Gymshark to bring its brand to the ‘off-price shopping experience’.”
The store will open in October and will trade until January 2025.
The firm’s third permanent store in London will also open next year at Westfield White City, following this July’s debut at Westfield Stratford City. The store will cover almost 9,000 square feet and “solidifies Gymshark’s presence in London’s most popular shopping destinations”.
And the Amsterdam store will open next spring with the company saying The Netherlands is one of the biggest markets for the brand. The location will cover over 10,000 square feet and “will replicate the core experience that the store in Westfield White City brings”.
As for the Trafford Centre space, it will launch next summer and will be the first standalone store in the North of the UK. Gymshark said it “has a great, long-standing relationship with Manchester. Its first Lift event post-Covid was in Manchester, and it has recently seen great success at its wholesale space at Selfridges in Trafford Centre”.
Its new 7,500-square-foot store will be located on Upper Peel Avenue and will house “all of its most sought-after ranges, plus exclusives to Gymshark Trafford Centre”. With over 29 million visitors to the Centre each year, the company said it’s an ideal location for the Northern debut.
