Crews were called to Castle Quarter at about 8.55pm on Friday following reports of a building fire. 

A spokesman for the shopping centre said on Friday the building was closed due to an “incident at Superbowl UK”.

People were unable to access the car parks and the centre while firefighters attended the incident. 

Superbowl UK Norwich has since confirmed that the venue will be open again on Saturday. 

A post on social media reads: “Following an incident in the venue last night, Superbowl UK is open and operational. 

“All bookings and walk in guests will be able to visit as planned.”

Posts on social media showed a fire cordon in place as people were evacuated from the building, including cinemagoers at Vue Cinema.

However, just after 11pm the spokesman confirmed that both car parks had reopened and people were able to collect their vehicles.

They also said access to any of the leisure units was not possible. 

Crews from Earlham, Sprowston, Hethersett, Long Stratton and Wymondham were called to the incident. 

A spokesman for Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service said crews firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used main jets and hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze.

A stop call was made at about 9.45pm by the fire service.
