Blue Flag beaches have to meet a strict set of environmental, educational, safety and accessibility criteria to qualify for the award.
For 2024, 72 beaches in England have been awarded Blue Flag status with coastline selected from all over the country.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the southwest of England has the most Blue Flag beaches and could be the perfect spot for a 2024 staycation.
As well as the beaches, one marina – Royal Albert Dock and Salthouse Dock Marina – was awarded Blue Flag status and one bathing water – Rutland Water – was awarded Blue Flag status.
