AK Retail Holdings Ltd has announced a major relaunch of the Star by Julien Macdonald brand. But if you want any more information, at the moment you’re out of luck as that’s just about all that the company has said, apart from “further details are to be released in the coming days”.
Star by Julien Macdonald has been a popular brand in recent years as mass-market shoppers have tapped into the overt sexiness of a designer who’s previously worked with Chanel and Givenchy, as well as being a celebrity favourite.
It had been a popular Designers at Debenhams label and in early 2023, Freemans — which sold the brand online — said it had enjoyed a strong Christmas with Star by Julien Macdonald being a standout performer for it.
So its relaunch is an intriguing prospect from the AK Retail business that has scooped up a number of labels in recent years and currently owns brands including Yours Clothing, BadRhino, Long Tall Sally, PixieGirl, M&Co, Evans, and bodycare offer Whip&Woo.
The company has a history of relaunches for the labels it owns and unlike brand acquirers that take their properties online-only, it remains committed to physical retail, operating plenty of stores across the UK.
